Now Is The Time
Good Day to All--
Time is on the move and it is crunchin' here in California-- ballots have been mailed, and some have even voted already!
I encourage EVERYONE to get out and VOTE this CALIFORNIA PRIMARY ELECTION!
Moreover, I encourage you to shift your civil-duty mindset so that you may begin to think and act with the understanding that California actually holds two general elections, one in the late spring, and one in the fall, the former being MOST important.
Many people here in California and across the nation have become jaded with the voting process for one reason or another. (Did you know that drop boxes are privately owned?) Maybe you have put together some pieces of a dauntingly larger picture, maybe you feel like it's too big to change. Yet I still say this: they don't have enough mules! This is a numbers game, we must turn out the numbers--it's our best antidote.
Now is the time to partake in the great, American story, to partake in that sacred, civil, constitutional commitment to put pen to paper and cast your vote. We must engage in this fundamental, democratic process every opportunity we get.
Voting is a blessing. Voting is a great power. And as the saying goes, with great power, comes great responsibility. Today, we find that as it turns out, God created us in such a way that as people take on more responsibility, so do they create more purpose in their life-- and that is a good thing.
I am grateful for the calm that comes over me from observing people, places, and policies around me and the sequential path of action that forms before me. One of the blessings of these past 2 years is that I have been observing more, we all have been observing more, and a path of action has been coalescing ever clearly.
So how will I take on more responsibility, so that my life may be more purposeful? As you know, I am running for local office, California State Assembly, District 43. I am running because the local level is where the rubber meets the road, where the action resides. I am running because far too many times the incumbents here, throughout LA county, and across California, have breezed through primary season after primary season unchallenged, and unopposed. Now is the time that ends.
So how shall you take on more responsibility so that your life may be more purposeful? One sure answer is to vote and to vote with discernment. Now is the time for something different. Now is the time to be courageous. I ask you, do you have the courage to change? Do you have the courage to do something different? Do you have the courage to vote a different way?
I am a first-generation American. I was born to an immigrant, single mother. I respect our founding liberties. I am for common sense policies for our communities. And I value safety, parental rights, freedom of choice, lower taxes, and all workers as essential.
Elected officials should keep the people informed, not uninformed, and with your vote, that's exactly what I intend to do. This election is the most important action you can take right now. I ask that you fill in the "write-in candidate" circle for Assembly District 43 and write Siaka Massaquoi. Finally, I implore you to vote--vote in person or vote early and walk your ballot in.
My name is Siaka Massaquoi and I am something different.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless you all.
In Faith,
Siaka Massaquoi
We Made The Ballot in November
Good day to all,
Thank you to everyone who has helped me with this campaign because WE MADE IT TO THE GENERAL, as a WRITE-IN, and we will be on the ballot this November!
What does that mean? Well, first it means that the people of District 43 get a chance to challenge the status quo and hear something different. I am of the belief that by running we have the opportunity to hold feet to the fire and force people to answer for their current and past policies. Policy matters because people matter. California has a super majority of one party in the legislation and now we are seeing why the founding fathers stressed balance in all parts of governance, both horizontal and vertical.
Currently, we all are living, or suffering, through the results of such governmental imbalance. Crime is surging while at the same time our county supervisors just voted to remove resources and power from our county Sheriff. In addition to crime, homelessness is up. One reason for this is due to California policy green-lighting that our tax dollars be spent to ship homeless in from other states. Simultaneously, parents' rights are being legislated away, what once was agreed and respected as firmly in the parental domain has eroded away in favor of the state. Levels of depression and suicide in our youth have increased by 200% since the start of the pandemic. Finally, gas prices and inflation are the highest in 40 years across the country. This is in addition to Californians paying some of the highest taxes, top 3, in the nation. It means that we are facing some of the hardest times just to put food on the table since the 1970’s.
Enter District 43 incumbent, Luz Rivas. She has hundreds of thousands of dollars in her war chest and an entire party behind her to keep her in power. One thing I know for sure is this: should she stay in, our community, and California at large, will continue down its current dark path. Let me be clear, the future of California isn’t all doom and gloom. The future of California is being written right now and it’s based on taking a stand and doing our civic duty for the only home most of us will ever know. We must become our own heroes; there is no Superman flying in to save us from the “bad guys.” We need to look inside and find our skill sets and gifts, then use them in the service of our community.
As you know, I have chosen to serve by running for local office. However, that choice alone will not get me there, I need your help to get over the finish line. So whether you can organize, walk neighborhoods, make phone calls, or donate money, all is needed, and all is deeply appreciated. With God and people like yourself taking action as the backbone of this campaign, we will shake things up in California and save this beautiful state.
Thus we are building on the momentum from the primaries by engaging the community in new ways! I would personally like to extend an invitation to a fun-family-community event called ~Valley Community Activation Day!~ Saturday, July 30th 11 - 3, at Jamie Beth Slaven Park (2648-12604 Strathern St. North Hollywood, CA 91605)
This district-focused event will showcase California Parent’s Union, an advocate group for parents, School Choice, Election Integrity and voter registration tables, as well as kid’s puppet performances, a bounce house, live music, prizes and much more! Please connect in person and join us there!
If you feel the call of duty to volunteer, make phone calls, or donate, please visit www.siakaforassembly.com, and leave a message with your contact information and availability.
This is a team sport and you have a part in me taking the pledge in Sacramento this November!
God Bless and much love to all!
